University Libraries and UNM Information Technologies have collaborated on licensing Safari Books Online, an ebook and video training platform aimed primarily at technical (computer science, information science, and digital media) and business/management fields, although other topics are covered. Access to a significant number of ebooks, tutorials, and videos makes Safari Books Online a valuable alternative for content formerly available through Books 24x7 and some Lynda.com trainings.

Anyone with a UNM NetID may create an account to obtain access both on and off campus. Once users have a validated account, they may download the mobile app, Safari Queue, for full access to the same content. To download or use content offline, users must use the mobile app.

This collaboration will benefit all UNM campuses, including branch campuses in Gallup, Los Alamos, Taos and Valencia. In addition, it will reduce costs by allowing University Libraries and UNM Information Technologies to discontinue less user-friendly or limited access products.

UNM is one of the first universities on this new platform from O'Reilly Media; therefore, users may experience some technical issues. For more information on creating an account, and incorporating content into a course, visit this Guide created by University Libraries. For technical assistance please contact Ask a Librarian.
