IT's Project Management Office (PMO) has a small staff of Project Managers and Business Analysts who are assigned to large, high risk, complex or high-visibility projects and programs. Project/Program Managers follow a defined and predictable process, working closely with the project sponsor(s), stakeholders and IT professionals to complete UNM projects on time, within budget and to the defined scope. Business Analysts use a variety of methods to support changes to business process, usually in the context of a technology project. PMO staff also support UNM's capital building projects by working with IT subject matter experts to ensure new buildings and student facing spaces leverage the most appropriate technology.
Projects and Programs are classified as "Enterprise" if they implement core functionality that will be available UNM-wide, "Domain" if the functionality will be focused on needs of a discipline across departments, and "Departmental" if the functionality is intended for a single department's use.
