Information Technologies (IT) provides installation, maintenance, inspection, and 24 hour monitoring of:
Authorization to obtain, install, or change programming on an alarm system occurs within departments and organizations. Because alarms services are billable, the alarms group offers estimates. After departmental or organizational authorization has been obtained, users can submit requests for alarms services by calling 277-1140 or via FastInfo
Alarms have varying technical requirements, which depend on the specifications of the system. To obtain a estimate for changes to an existing system or installation.
The labor rate for the Alarms Group is $80/hour, with one half hour minimum charge. Labor is charged for alarms codes setup, and changes. There is no charge for alarm disconnections, history reports, alarm account information reports, or modifications to alarm emergency notification lists. Time (labor) and materials used in installations, projects and repairs are billable to the service requesting organization. Departments and organizations requesting services from the Alarms Group are responsible for funding those services. Services cannot be delivered without a valid billing index. The IT department provides estimates for installations, changes and projects without charge, on request, and also encourages users to obtain estimates for services. Alarm System usage, support, & monitoring is provided to system users 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Fire alarm systems function 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. These systems are monitored by the UNM Police.&l

For after hours emergency or urgent support (before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, weekends, or holidays) call UNMPD at 277-2241, and ask for the on-call Alarm Technician.
Alarms contribute to UNM's overall mission by enhancing personnel and property/asset protection. Fire alarms provide life safety, property protection, mission continuity, historic preservation, and environmental protection. Alarms delivery of service is dependent on a range of factors, including the scope of requested work, any additional services necessary (e.g., specialized materials, phone line activation), preexisting workloads within the Alarms group and staff schedules.
